Bruce Willis‘ wife Emma Heming Willis has been very open with fans about the actor’s life since he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) in 2022, and how their blended family has had to adapt along the way.
Speaking at the 2025 End Well conference in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 30th, Emma reflected on one of the most difficult choices she has had to make for their family: moving the Pulp Fiction star out of their family home.
The actor now lives nearby, where he receives round-the-clock care from a professional team. Emma said that the decision to make the move permanent was not one she took lightly, but ultimately felt was the best for her husband and their whole family.
Emma Heming Willis On Making The 'Impossible' Decision To Move Bruce Willis Out Of Their Family Home
According to Us Weekly, Heming Willis, 47 – who shares daughters Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, with the 70-year-old Die Hard actor – said the move was made with her husband's best interests at heart.
"These are hard decisions. These are impossible – I'm getting choked up thinking about it. They're impossible decisions. This is not how I envisioned our life," she candidly shared.
The British model and actress also acknowledged that she anticipated judgement from members of the public, but ultimately felt she had to prioritize what was safest and healthiest for the Moonlighting actor and their family.
She said: "I had to make the best and safest decision for our family and I knew by being honest and open about it that it would be met with a lot of judgement."

Emma Heming Willis Faced 'Judgement' But Stands By Her Choice
Emma revealed that she even sought therapy before going public with their new living arrangements, as she knew that the public reaction would be harsh.
"It was interesting to see how much judgement and criticism about what a terrible person I am and how could I do this," she confessed, adding: "But you know what I say is that if you are not on the front lines of this, in that person's house day in, day out, 24/7, 365 days a year – then you don't get a say and you don't get a vote."

She explained that the change has allowed their family – particularly their children – to experience a fuller, more stable life that they perhaps couldn't have experienced if they were still in their family home.
"People don't realize all the needs that go unmet behind closed doors and now our children's needs are met," she explained.
"They are in a home where they can have playdates and sleepovers, these things that we don't even think about. Their world is completely opened up and so has my husband's."

Bruce Willis' Ex-Wife Demi Moore And Their Daughters Are Very 'Supportive' And 'Nonjudgemental'
She went on to say that the Sixth Sense actor's three daughters he shares with ex-wife Demi Moore – Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31 – as well as The Substance actress herself, have been nothing but supportive of the decision.
"Because they know, they're in it and I've got his beautiful blended family," she said, adding: "I also have Bruce's mother who is in her 90s. I have Bruce's brothers and sister and cousins and they have been so loving and supportive and nonjudgemental."
