The #FreeBritney movement has garnered attention from plenty of Britney Spears fans and other celebrities as well who have opted to show their support for the singer publicly.
Although there is still a lot we do not know, we learned through court documents in August that Britney was “strongly opposed” to having her father return to his role of controlling her estate.
With that in mind, several celebs have started speaking out in support of the star. Keep reading for the details!
According to Us Weekly, in these court documents, Samuel D. Ingham III, Britney's attorney, stated: "Britney herself is vehemently opposed to this effort by her father to keep her legal struggle hidden away in the closet as a family secret."
And since then, Miley Cyrus, Paris Hilton, and even Cher have spoken up about the issue, siding with Britney.
During an interview with iHeartRadio Canada, Cyrus explained her thoughts on the #FreeBritney movement though she did not get into details.
"It’s a treat others the way you wanted to be treated kind of thing. I definitely don’t know her personally enough to know any of the details... Britney, like anyone else, should have the freedom to live the life that’s most authentic to her," she said.
Paris Hilton gave a more detailed take on the situation during an interview on Andy Cohen Live in September.
The heiress talked about their friendship: "We just talk about happy things. Music, fashion… fun things. I never like to bring up negative things and make people feel uncomfortable so I've never talked about [the conservatorship] with her."
However, she continued, "I just love her so much. I feel like if you are an adult, you should be able to live your life and not be controlled."
She continued, referencing her own traumatic childhood experiences, "I think maybe that stems from me being controlled so much, so I can understand how that would feel, and I can’t imagine right now if that was still happening to me. After just working your whole life and working so hard, she’s this icon, and I just feel like she has no control of her life whatsoever, and I just don’t think that’s fair."
Cher has also recenlty tweeted about the situation (not for the first time), questioning whether those profiting off of Britney being unwell would want her to recover.
She Worked Hard,Was The Golden Goose,Made Lots Of 💰💰,Got Sick,Now She’s The CASH COW.Does anyone Who’s Making💰Off Her Being Sick,Want Her Well⁉️Someone Who Doesn’t Want Anything From Her Should Look Into Her Dr.& Her Meds. 🦆🦆🦆......Is It a Duck⁉️ https://t.co/hniE8yFrHZ

Cher tweeted about the situation in January as well, writing, "Why is a woman being worked,If Its Known By Her Conservator that She’s not well enough to Care for herself."
