Chick-fil-A is known for a few things: great hospitality, delicious milkshakes, and some of the best chicken sandwiches around. But one thing that many people don’t expect when they roll up to this fast food chicken chain is an upcharge on extra pickles. Unfortunately for university students, one Reddit post indicated that this may become the norm at campus locations—and people aren’t happy about it. Find the details below.

Chick-fil-A adds charge for extra pickles at certain locations

College students aren’t known for being the richest demographic around, which is why it may be especially shocking to hear that several Chick-fil-A patrons have noticed extra charges when they order on campus. One customer pointed this out in a Reddit post.

“My Chick-Fil-A at University is charging for extra pickles now,” they wrote. “Seems a little weird to me. Do they do this anywhere else?”

A few users chimed in with comments expressing that they, too, had been hit with unexpected charges on items that would typically be free. “The one on my campus charges for water and limits you to 2 sauces per entree,” someone wrote.

One person shared some insight. “My university also does this as well,” they wrote, “but I don’t think any FSU locations (aka regular or full size stores) do this.”

“FSU” means standing unit. This means that while you may be upcharged unexpectedly at on-campus locations, or places like the airport, you’re likely safe when you pull up to your local drive-thru.

Regardless, customers are (understandably) unhappy. "What the hell are they thinking?" one person commented on Reddit. "That's such a tiny upcharge surely they'd realize that the amount of dissatisfaction this causes is not going to be worth it."

"Not very my pleasure of them," one comment joked.

On top of new tires that smell like buns, this beloved chain may be losing loyalty.

But, hey, at least they aren't charging for "no ice," as one chain was rumored to.
