Customers Are So Mad: Chick-fil-A Just Announced A New Drink Policy

Chick-fil-A is getting slammed by customers online–and this time it has nothing to do with their political views or lack of Sunday hours! Customers are alleging that the chicken chain is over-charging for their specialty drinks! In case you missed it, the Atlanta-based chain made some menu adjustments earlier this year (as fast food chains routinely do). While some changes, like adding a Lemon Kale Caesar entree, were welcomed–others such as eliminating the breakfast bagel and order options for the Nugget Kids meal, were less so. But the most controversial decision was their removal of the large size of the speciality drinks. So, instead of being able to order a large iced coffee, milkshake or frosted drinks, patrons would only be able to get their hands on one the size of a Frosted Coffee, ie. 14 ounces. The most vocal of Chick-fil-A eaters have claimed on Reddit and Facebook that not only are the sizes smaller for these beverages (ie., less optionality)–but that the restaurant chain is still charging for the bigger cup. Yikes!

Here’s everything you need to know about the drama: In February, Chick-fil-A announced that it was consolidating and cleaning up its menu, including only offering a 5-piece option of the Nugget Kids meal, rather than a 4 and a 6. Which, sort of makes sense. They also revealed that they would be streamlining the speciality drinks, too, aka eliminating the 16-ounce “Small” size and only offering the 14-ounce cup. “Streamlining our menu will allow for us to continue providing our customers the quality food and service they’ve come to expect, as well as make room for new future menu items,” a rep for the company said at the time.

But Chick-fil-A eaters weren't buying it, and quickly rushed to their keyboards to disagree with the decision. "I’ll admit I was pissed when I got my milkshake and didn’t realize they changed the sizes," user @Pickleboy wrote on the thread, which has since had comments "locked down" on the platform. But that's not all--@Pickleboy explained that their experience was the chain, "Charging for the previous large price for a small." Yikes! "I just don’t order milkshakes anymore," they finished. Other irate customers piled on with more similar complaints. "A way overpriced milkshake. Here it is a $6 milkshake which is more than even the locally owned ice cream places charge and a quarter of the size," wrote @Brennok. Hm, good point!

Over on Facebook, other customers expressed their disagreement with how the company decided to handle size options on the brand's post about Peach Milkshakes. "If you are going to pick only one size for coffee drinks I think it needs to be a large," wrote one user. "Refusing to buy “baby” milkshakes here!!! They are delicious but need adult sizes back!!" wrote another. Eep! We hope the drama over milkshakes will be over soon.
