Costco is recalling *yet another* item after a string of recent recalls this spring on items from beans to butter, vitamins, and more. This time, it’s a frozen dinner!
The wholesale chain has announced that it is pulling Don Lee Green Chili Shredded Chicken & Rice Cauliflower Bowls from shelves amid concerns that the meal contains plastic. Yikes!
ICYMI, the store recently pulled Greek yogurt ice cream bars because they “may contain very small metallic fragments,” among other recalls, and now there are concerns that the chicken and rice bowls from the Don Lee Farms brand have been compromised as well.
The microwaveable meals come in a package of four and contain chicken, riced cauliflower, cheddar cheese, green chili peppers, onions, garlic, and lime juice (aka, they sound like a protein-packed, convenient dinner option!).
Sadly, the health risks far outweigh the benefits on this frozen aisle item.
“Our supplier, Pacific Meridian Group, is recalling their green chili (used as an ingredient in this item) due to the potential presence of plastic,” the brand said in a recall announcement that was shared with Costco members. The dates affected are May 22 and June 15, 2021.
