There’s no mistaking what new movie Dakota Johnson is starring in, as the actress channeled her Madame Web character on the Vogue Brasil Ball red carpet in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, February 3rd.
Madame Web is a fictional character who first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #210 comic, which was published way back in November 1980. The character is a paramedic in Manhattan, who discovers that she’s a clairvoyant after a near-death experience, and has appeared in several Spider-Man stories over the years. Rachel Dratch voiced C. Weber, a character loosely based on Madame Web, in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, while Johnson will portray Cassie Webb in the upcoming movie, which hits theaters on February 14th.

Dakota Johnson Channels Her Madame Web Character On The Red Carpet
All eyes were on the 34-year-old The Lost Daughter actress on the red carpet thanks to her stunning ensemble, which consisted of a custom version of the Annie’s Ibiza ‘Cobweb’ midi dress and matching sheer black veil with a spider web design on the back.
The black silk mesh dress was totally see-through, with Johnson’s black thong showing through. It was covered in dazzling beads and crystals, which the brand says resemble “dewdrops on a spider’s web in the morning sun.”
The Daddio actress was styled by Kate Young, with her brunette locks styled by Mark Townsend in a loosely waved down do. For makeup, the Persuasion actress went for a dark pink lip, pink blush, and fluttery eyelashes. It’s clear that she wanted the dress and the veil to do all the talking, which is why she chose to keep jewelry to a minimum too, save for a Nghi ring that is shaped like a spider.
