Dakota Johnson Bares It All In A Lace Dress At Charity Event
A sultry smokey eye and nude lip finished off the bold ensemble.
Although the 35-year-old undeniably stunned and commanded attention at the star-studded gala, many social media users criticized her daring ensemble, calling it too revealing and inappropriate for a charity event.
"I love Dakota but in all seriousness, this was a Caring for Women event in aid of violence against women. This styling is completely inappropriate given the intended focus of the event and instead detracts attention away from the important cause. I'm all for female empowerment but different occasions call for a different approach," one person wrote on social media. "What's the need of this?? Completely out of place and vulgar." a second said. "Hmmm, is this appropriate for the occasion?" another questioned. "Beautiful dress but being in underwear underneath, no! Why not wear a little slip dress? It’s like going to a restaurant in a bikini, sorry, not appropriate!" a fourth noted. "Dakota, I know that you're the actress of 50 Shades trilogy, but you don't have to take the movie scene to a gala," another person said.
"Dakota and Gucci thought wearing a dress like this on an evening devoted to women who suffered violence was a great idea. Ok," another declared.
Others defended the actress, saying, "She looks amazing! It is her body and her choices. If she likes it, she wears it. When will be the day people understand not to judge and give opinions nobody asked for?" Someone else said, "I understand people seeing her choice of outfit as inappropriate for the event, but I see it as a statement that she shouldn’t feel obligated to cover up in order to be treated with respect. It’s unconventional but bold, in my opinion."
Kering Foundation’s Caring for Women Dinner Brought Out The A-Listers
Dakota wasn’t the only guest who faced backlash for choosing a revealing outfit at the event.
Lauren Sánchez chose a butter-yellow strapless Schiaparelli gown with a structured corset bodice, elegant draping, and a contrasting black back panel that extended into a subtle train. However, the daringly low-cut neckline sparked criticism from fans, with some suggesting the look was more suited for the Playboy Mansion than a formal event.
The annual gala brings together leaders from fashion, film, and culture to raise critical funds for organizations fighting gender-based violence and helping survivors reclaim financial independence and stability. Hosted by Salma Hayek Pinault and her husband François-Henri Pinault, this year's intimate evening included Jessica Chastain, Demi Moore, Anna Wintour, Madonna, Julianne Moore, Adrien Brody, and many more.
