We had to do a double take when we saw the first pictures of Daniel Radcliffe as Weird Al Yankovic. To say the 32-year-old former Harry Potter star looks unrecognizable would be a huge understatement!
Radcliffe is playing the role of the accordion-playing, five-time-Grammy-award-winning musician in the biopic WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story, which started filming in Los Angeles a week ago. In the pap pictures that were taken from the set of the biopic, Radcliffe can be seen with a curly black wig and a very thick black mustache, while wearing an oversized camouflage printed shirt and black and white sneakers. Harry Potter, who?

The biopic, a Roku Original, will be produced by Funny or Die and Tango, and will premiere on the Roku Channel; although a release date has yet to be confirmed. According to a press release, the biopic “holds nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like “Eat It” and “Like a Surgeon” to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle.”
“Wearing the Hawaiian shirt is a huge responsibility that I don’t take lightly,” Radcliffe said in a statement. “And I’m honored to finally share with the world the absolutely 100 percent unassailably true story of Weird Al’s depraved and scandalous life.” The 62-year-old musician himself said he was “absolutely thrilled” that Radcliffe had been chosen for the role, before joking: “I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for.”
