It may seems like a useful app, but it’s one that comes to many an Apple expert’s mind when considering extraneous apps that you can get rid of: the flashlight app.
“If you’ve got any flashlight apps on your iPhone now is a good time to get rid of them,” says Hosea Chang, chief operating officer of Hayden Girls.
The number one reason why you don’t need a flashlight app: “software updates and newer phone models come with a built-in flashbulb,” Chang says. “Even though these apps are unnecessary, there are still a ton of them available from the App Store because the creators want your personal data, or worse, a door into your phone to infect it with malware.”
Jigyash Kashyap, co-founder and editor of untoldtech.com, agrees: "there is absolutely no need for any flashlight app since you can control the flashlight with the system directly as these flashlight apps drains so much power and installed for no reason," Kashyap says. "So it is better to say goodbye to them."
To turn on the Flashlight feature on iPhones with Face ID, swipe down from the upper right corner of the screen and open the Control Center. Tap on the flashlight icon to turn on this feature. Voila — there’s absolutely no need to download or use a flashlight app when your phone already provides this service.
