This is the summer where we’ve seen numerous revivals of past trends and the emergence of new fashion crazes we’ve never seen before. A truly head-turning year in the fashion world! From flowy sheer dresses to sizzling thongkinis and the return of the micro mini skirt, it seems that every day is an opportunity for a new style to reemerge (and we’re not complaining). Adding to the list of celebrities that have brought back trends this year is Gigi Hadid.
The fashion queen, who’s been recently linked to Leonardo DiCaprio, took matters into her own hands to bring back denim capris, a trend that takes us back to our childhood days when we rocked capris to school, thinking we looked like fashion models. Gigi took over the streets of New York with her besties in an ensemble that was almost all black: her tank top, cross-body bag, shades, high heel mules, and even her black belt!
The only splash of color seen was her gold jewelry and, of course, the denim capris. Crossing the street as if it were her runway, she truly has inspired us to embrace this old trend that has made a comeback in modern times.

On her way to her friend Leah McCarthy’s birthday, Gigi was photographed donning pieces that were all dark in tone: a black tank top right from her own line, Guest in Residence, that was tucked under her jeans, a leather belt, Toteme leather mules, a cross-body bag, and chic skinny oval shades.
The denim capris she specifically wore are high-waisted denim capri jeans from Jacquemus and give off an acid-wash look. It doesn’t get cooler than this!
If you thought she was done serving major style inspo, no she wasn't. The mom of one accessorized herself by donning mini gold earrings and gold-layered necklaces. She put her blonde tresses in a semi-high ponytail, making room for her cherry-colored lip tint and coral cheeks to pop out.
While we've seen plenty of celebs rocking the jorts trend (such as Gigi's younger sister, international model and style sensation Bella Hadid), this is one of the first times we've seen capris in the limelight.
Hailing back from the 60s and ruling the fashion world in the early 2000s (Y2K era inspo), we saw many icons rocking these pants, and they were considered a closet staple for summertime. Although not everyone might be on board with the denim capri pants, if more celebrity icons hop on this trend, we might have to give in and start shopping ourselves!
