Crepes

Crepes, those thin, delicate pancakes often associated with indulgence, can be a surprisingly weight-loss-friendly option when prepared thoughtfully. Unlike their calorie-laden counterparts, crepes can be made with whole wheat flour or other healthier alternatives, providing more fiber and nutrients while helping to control blood sugar levels.

Filling them with fresh fruits, low-fat yogurt, or protein-rich ingredients like lean meats or tofu can turn crepes into a balanced and satisfying meal that keeps you fuller for longer, potentially curbing overall calorie intake.

"For the filling, I suggest lightly sweetening plain greek yogurt and mixing in some cinnamon and fruit of choice. A dollop of low fat whipped topping on top can bring it all together. The end product is a dessert that is indulgent and will also help you stay full for longer with a good amount of protein and a little fiber," Borstelmann says.

The Bottom Line

For individuals who have a penchant for sweets, achieving a balance is essential when integrating treats into their weight loss journey to ensure long-term sustainability. When contemplating dessert options suitable for those aiming to shed pounds, it's advisable to focus on choices that provide substantial portions for relatively fewer calories while still satisfying your dessert cravings. When enjoyed in moderation and with mindful ingredient choices, crepes can be a delicious part of a weight-conscious diet.
