President Donald Trump Booed At FIFA Club World Cup Final
The POTUS was seated in the midfield luxury box alongside his wife, who looked so chic in a white knee-length skirt teamed with a white T-shirt tucked inside, as well as a navy blazer draped over her shoulders, and white Dior sunglasses.
They were joined by other high-profile guests such as FIFA president Gianni Infantino, media mogul Rupert Murdoch, and former NFL quarterback Tom Brady, among others.
The reception Trump received was far from warm, which might be the understatement of the century! According to eyewitnesses and many videos circulating online, Trump was booed heavily when he was shown on the video screens during the pre-game national anthem.
The jeers only intensified at the end of the game, as he accompanied Infantino onto the field to present the trophy to the winning team, along with individual awards and runners-up medals. He also received boos from confused onlookers when he appeared to outstay his welcome on the pitch during the trophy presentation, which players even commented on afterwards.
Accoring to the BBC, Chelsea captain Reece James said: "They told me that he was going to present the trophy and then exit the stage, and I thought that he was going to exit the stage, but he wanted to stay. He just congratulated me and the team for lifting the trophy and told us to enjoy the moment."
Fellow Chelsea player Cole Palmer, who scored twice for his team in the final, added: "I knew he was going to be here but I didn't know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy. I was a bit confused, yes."
Internet Reactions
Unsurprisingly, many people were thrilled with the reception Trump received at the final! "An entire stadium full of people booing Trump. Music to my ears," wrote one person on a YouTube video of the final, as a second thought the crowd were "not booing loud enough."
"Just wait till he comes to the U.K. on his state visit. You'll hear us booing straight across the pond without any technology," wrote a third person, as a fourth added: "Unreal how he totally can't hear the boos. He is laughed at throughout the world."
"Trump is the most petty, insecure man to ever be voted to such a high office, it's embarrassing to be an American," slammed a fifth. "He has made America so humiliating we won't ever recover," echoed a sixth. "Trump is an embarrassment to this USA," agreed a seventh, as an eighth exclaimed: "He's a disgrace!"
