Following his indictment by the Fulton County district attorney’s office for attempting to overturn the election results in Georgia, Donald Trump made a statement via Truth Social this week.

“A Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia is almost complete & will be presented by me at a major News Conference at 11:00 A.M. on Monday of next week in Bedminster, New Jersey,” the former president wrote.

He added: “Based on the results of this CONCLUSIVE Report, all charges should be dropped against me & others – There will be a complete EXONERATION! They never went after those that Rigged the Election. They only went after those that fought to find the RIGGERS!”

Inside Donald Trump's So-Called 'Rigged Election' Evidence And Canceled Press Conference

This announcement left many inquiring minds wondering why the extensive state and federal probes of the 2020 election had not found his "irrefutable" evidence and why three years of seeking evidence that Trump’s claims of fraudulence were factual had proved unsuccessful.

Many are wondering why he had not made any references to this so-called "Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT" prior to being criminally indicted in Georgia, or why he was requesting a whole week for its completion. A plausible response could be that he was simply concocting a series of deceptions.

Soon after Trump declared his intentions, ABC News noted that his legal team was in a state of distress and informed him that "holding such a press conference with dubious claims of voter fraud [would] only complicate his legal problems," and his lawyers recommended that he should cancel it.

Despite Trump's track record of disregarding advice, it appears that he was made aware that the plan would likely lead to more charges being pressed against him and chose to scrap it.

Even so, on Thursday he announced he was canceling the press conference scheduled for Monday, but then also stated that he would present "Irrefutable & Overwhelming evidence of Election Fraud & Irregularities in formal Legal Filings."

It remains to be seen whether his legal team will allow this, or if this is just more empty rhetoric.

As reported by Axios, Trump is also seeking to delay his upcoming federal trial concerning his attempt to dispute the results of the election until spring 2026.

If Trump prevails in the 2024 election, by April 2026 he would already be over a year into his second term; he could theoretically pardon himself at that point, something that his staff was seemingly oblivious to when requesting the court date.

Trump is scheduled to be presented with formal charges in Georgia next week; Pat Labat, the Fulton County sheriff, has hinted that the ex-President will be photographed as a typical lawbreaker, mugshot and all.
