Earlier this week, Donald Trump and Melania Trump arrived at the Kennedy Center to watch the opening night of Les Misérables, but they were not met with much fanfare. In fact, there were distinct “booing” sounds coming from the crowd, which were captured on video and posted online. The clips are now going viral on X, formerly Twitter, as anti-Trump users leave comments like, “the crowd understood the assignment!” Keep reading for more information.

Donald & Melania Booed At The Kennedy Center

On June 11th, opening night of Les Misérables, the Trumps dressed up and headed to the Kennedy Center, which Donald Trump has previously criticized, claiming they host too many drag shows. While his presence was certainly cheered for by certain Trump supporters, there was an overwhelming amount of booes as well. In fact, on person even loudly cursed his name at the end of the intermission.

Chris D. Jackson posted side-by-side videos of when Joe and Jill Biden visited the Kennedy Center versus Donald and Melania Trump, writing, “In December, President Biden and Dr. Biden got cheers and a standing ovation at the Kennedy Center. Tonight? Trump and Melania were booed loudly — even after stuffing the place with MAGA cultists. Face it: Trump isn’t respected. He’s loathed. The most reviled president in American history.”

Social Media Reactions

In the comment section, social media users praised the brave individuals who weren't afraid to share their opinions of Trump right in front of him. "The most significant gesture that people missed are those who simply turned their backs and refused to acknowledge his presence," one person pointed out. "That is resistance too! Resist this administration!"

"Do you know how terrible of a person you have to be to be booed at a formal event?" another person said on X.

"Showing up to a musical about injustice and getting booed for being the villain in real life is comical," another said.

"This is how we should treat fascist leaders wherever they go," another tweet reads.
