This past Sunday, Donald Trump was invited to present the trophy to the winning team at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, but seemed to forget that after the “presenting” part is the “get out of the way and let the team celebrate” part, and remained on stage, despite the efforts of others trying to remove him. Keep reading for more information.

Donald Trump Refuses To Leave The Fifa World Cup Stage

Trump, who has a friendly relationship with FIFA President Gianni Infantino, took the stage at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey to present Chelsea with the trophy following their win over Paris Saint-Germain. However, after handing it over to team captain Reece James, Trump remained on stage.

Even as Infantino tried to get him to exit, waving him over numerous times, Trump refused to leave. The team lifted up the trophy in celebration, and Trump remained center stage. Eventually, Infantino put his hands on Trump’s shoulders and guided him to the back of the group.

"They told me that [Trump] was going to present the trophy and then exit the stage," Reece, the captain of Chelsea, told The Athletic. "I thought he was going to exit the stage, but he wanted to stay."

Cole Palmer, a midfielder on the team, was also dumbfounded: "I knew he was going to be here, but I didn't know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy, so I was a bit confused," he told reporters.

Social Media Reactions

Videos of Trump refusing to exit the stage have gone viral on social media, with many users criticizing the president for not letting the team have their moment. "Ignorant tangerine turd, Donald Trump, refuses to leave the stage at the FIFA Club World Cup trophy presentation," one person wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

"So desperate to be associated with success of any type, Orange Donny hijacks the success of the Chelsea team, presumably to get at least some idea of what winning feels like, albeit second hand," another person tweeted.

"He never should've been there," another posted.

"He had to be the center of attention," one user posted. "If he'd attended The Last Supper he'd be sitting in the middle."
