President Donald Trump’s rennivations on the White House have been shocking Americans and allegedly, upsetting First Lady Melania Trump.
During this week’s Medal of Honor ceremony, the president began talking about his construction project on the East Wing of the White House. The project, a $400M ballroom, has been underway since October 2025, and during the ceremony, he mentioned that his wife, Melania, was not happy about all the noise and has been asking when it’ll be over. Donald Trump Says Melania Trump Is 'Not Thrilled' About The Construction At The White House
Earlier this week, the president held a Medal of Honor ceremony at the White House. In addition to awarding citizens with medals, he made a long speech. While going off on a few tangents, he brought up the controversial construction happening on the East Wing of the White House.
Last year, the 79-year-old was met with a lot of backlash as he revealed he was demolishing and reconstructing the East Wing of the historical building to include what he called at the ceremony "the most beautiful ballroom anywhere in the world."
The demolition, which began in October, went from a $200M project to a $400M one, and the president claimed he was "donating" money towards it. However, during the Medal of Honor event, he revealed that someone close to him is not thrilled about it.
"When you hear all that hammering out there, you know why the first lady is not thrilled, exactly," he said, as reported by People. "She said, 'Will the pile drivers ever stop?'"
Trump's message did not come long after reporters and inside sources had mentioned that Melania is taking a bit more of a backseat during her husband's second term, and is allegedly going back and forth on whether or not she should be in their New York City home most of the time.
Donald Trump Calls The Construction Noises The Sound Of 'Money'
Despite the First Lady not being very pleased with the construction and all the noise that comes with it, the former real estate mogul continued to show a lot of enthusiasm for it. On Monday, he told attendees that while it might not look like much right now, in "about a year and a half, you're gonna see a very, very beautiful building."
Additionally, the president seems to be associating the East Wing reconstruction and White House ballroom with investing and his past with building hotels and other structures before his venture into politics.
"You know what? To me, that's a beautiful sound," he stated, referring to the noise. "She doesn't like it, I love it...When I hear that sound, that beautiful sound behind me, it means money, so I like it, but my wife isn't thrilled."
Both Trump's supporters and opponents are waiting on pins and needles to see what the "most beautiful ballroom" will look like when this is all over, but for now, Melania is certainly ready for it to be finished.
