Donald Trump Says A Military Mom 'Looks So Great' During White House Mother's Day Event
This week, people all over the country are celebrating Mother's Day, and the holiday had a special moment at the White House before the actual day. On Wednesday, President Trump and First Lady Melania hosted an honorary Mother's Day event for military moms, mothers whose children have served or are actively serving the nation's military.
Throughout the event, the First Lady and some of the invited mothers made speeches related to the holidays and the strength it takes for most military moms to get by. At one point, a woman took the stand to make a speech, and afterward, the 79-year-old made a comment that quickly went viral on social media.
"She had no idea she was gonna be doing that," he said. "But I looked at her, I said, 'she looks so great, I'm gonna get her up here.'"
Dave Calls The Current Political Climate 'Insufferable'
Though the best-selling author didn't chime in too much while her podcast guest made the insinuating comment about white presidents, mostly laughing at the humor in his words, she did allow him to lean in and vent about his feelings towards what's going on in American politics right now.
At one point, the 52-year-old performer mentioned how much community helps him get through it all, giving listeners advice on how to deal with the stress as well.
"My community coming together and in tough times - our family, we have had tremendous losses recently, people in our family passed away, and the community picked us up," he said. "That made me hopeful. The little things mean so much more now."
"And I would want to remind anybody that's listening to this show: Man, that smile that you muster when it hurts to smile is priceless right now," he continued. "Anything you can do to let each other know you're safe, that you're okay, it means everything right now, because otherwise this is intolerable. It's insufferable what's happening right now."
After listening to his sentiments, the former first lady nodded her head and echoed, "I'm hopeful too."
