After the reporter posed her question, the president told her to ‘be quiet’ and lashed out at her, which led to a wave of backlash on social media, as this isn’t the first time he’s had one of these altercations. Following his White House media ban fiasco, the 80-year-old president is back to lashing out at members of the press.
Donald Trump spoke to reporters as he left the White House on Saturday, where he addressed a range of topics before heading to Tennessee. The exchange also turned toward his administration’s ongoing conflict with news organizations he has accused of unfair or negative coverage. During the exchange, MS NOW White House correspondent Akayla Gardner asked Trump about his administration’s restrictions on CNN, MS NOW, and Politico, and whether he only wanted outlets that supported him included in the press pool. Trump pushed back on the question, criticizing MS NOW and its coverage.
“Sir, do you only want outlets that support you to be a part of the press corps?” Gardner asked.
“I want real news, not fake news like you,” Trump responded before pointing his finger at her and telling her, “Quiet!”

Social Media Users Slam Trump For Snapping At The Reporter
This is far from the first time the Apprentice star has lashed out at a female journalist. In recent months, he has publicly criticized reporters including CNN's Kaitlan Collins and ABC's Rachel Scott, and he's also snapped at Gardner before this past weekend, with past exchanges involving insults about their reporting and comments about their appearance.
After footage of Trump's latest exchange with Gardner spread online, social media users quickly criticized his response to the reporter's question. Some called his behavior a "tantrum" and "big baby" moment, while others focused on his decision to tell the reporter to be quiet after she pressed him about the media restrictions.
"What a big baby," commented an Instagram user. "His days are numbered."
