It seems Zohran Mamdani has made quite an impression on president Donald Trump.

The New York City mayor-elect and Trump met for the first time in the Oval Office on Friday, November 21, 2025. Shortly afterward, the president debuted a new winter look—and the internet immediately speculated that he’d taken style inspiration from Mamdani.

However, the viral photo that sparked the comparisons turned out to be the result of an edited image.

Donald Trump Seemingly Takes Notes From Zohran Mamdani's Style

Even so, the photoshopped picture was convincing enough that many online fans joked the president had been “charmed” by Mamdani.

A clip of Trump went viral on X, showing him wearing a red scarf under a black coat during a Fox News appearance. Users quickly began posting photos of Mamdani in a similar coat—and although the image of Mamdani wearing a matching burgundy scarf was fabricated, it didn’t stop the internet from drawing comparisons. According to the 1.1K comments on the viral post, the two looks gave off the same unmistakable vibe.

“Sometimes you dress a little different when you have a new crush,” said one user. Another wrote, “He’s even dressing like [Mamdani] now lmao. Yesterday changed Trump’s life more than we know.” A third noted, “Bro met Mamdani and decided that overcoats and fall palette sweaters were the move going forward.” A fourth commented, “Well, after his intense flirtations with MBS and Mamdani, Trump is now channeling his inner grande dame.” A fifth quipped, “Donald Trump has fallen in love again. Looks like the old man took some fashion tips from Mamdani, too.”

Trump and Mamdani Address 'Fascist' Comments

The meeting between the NYC mayor-elect and Trump was unexpectedly cordial, despite the two exchanging sharp remarks throughout the mayoral campaign. Held in the Oval Office in Washington, D.C., the conversation brought together a Republican president and a self-described democratic socialist to discuss shared concerns, including housing affordability and the rising cost of living in New York City.

Both struck an optimistic tone: Trump congratulated Mamdani on his win and said he would “cheer for him,” while Mamdani described the conversation as a “productive meeting” centered on delivering real results for New Yorkers.

During the press conference after their meeting, in a now viral moment, a reporter directly asked Mamdani, "Are you affirming that you think President Trump is a fascist?"

Mamdani started to answer by saying, "I've spoken about that..." before being cut off. President Trump quickly interrupted in a lighthearted manner along with a pat on Mamdani's arm and said, "That's okay. You can just say yes. It's easier than explaining it. I don't mind."

Mamdani took the opportunity and replied, “Yes, that's something that I've said in the past. I say it today.”
