Everyone knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day – especially when you are trying to lose weight. But the most common mistake people tend to make with breakfast has to do with your morning drink. We often spend so much time thinking about the most healthy foods you can eat for breakfast that we overlook the drinks we have with the meal, and this can end up hindering your diet.

Drinks can play just as big a role in your weight loss journey as foods do, because no matter which way we intake nutrients, they all affect our diet. And certain drinks contain ingredients that are very detrimental to your health.

One of the worst drinks you can have in the morning is fruit juice. Most people consider these juices to be very healthy, because they are high in important vitamins and minerals found in fruit, which we need to maintain a healthy diet. But these drinks are also very high in sugar and carbs.

Sugar directly causes weight gain for a few reasons. For one thing, if you don’t use up all of the energy you take in from sugar, that will turn into fat. And, eating more sugar can make you feel hungrier throughout the day and cause you to eat more than you actually need. This makes high-sugar foods and drinks especially bad for you when consumed in the morning.

If you want to have fruit juice with breakfast, consider investing in a juicer so you can make your own juice without any added sugars. Or, opt for a smoothie as your breakfast so you can still drink your fruit and control the ingredients going into the meal.
