It’s no secret that most of the food and drinks on the Dunkin Donuts menu are pretty bad for your health. The coffee shop chain literally has the word “doughnuts” in its name. But what might come as a surprise to you is that one of the unhealthiest drinks on its menu is one that seems pretty harmless: the signature latte.
Dunkin Donuts’ signature latte seems simple - it’s just a latte. Most lattes aren’t that bad for you, because they are just made from espresso with a lot of milk. But the way Dunkin Donuts makes this drink typically involves a lot of sugar.
The reason that the signature latte is one of the most popular is that Dunkin makes it with a few different flavor options. And these flavors are mostly made of sugar.
The Cocoa Mocha edition of the signature latte contains 53 grams of sugar, while the Caramel Craze has 57 grams. And unfortunately, the Pumpkin Spice version isn’t any better - it has 55 grams. These are all extremely high amounts, as the most sugar you should eat in a day is 45 grams.
Instead of the signature latte, opt for a regular latte. It only contains 5 grams of sugar, and you can add a swirl of flavoring like pumpkin, caramel or mocha. These swirls will increase the sugar count, but it won't bring it nearly as high as the flavoring options in the Signature Latte.
