Anyone who is anyone doesn't go to Dunkin' Donuts for the coffee - heck, all you have to do is look at the name to know the right choice is those delicious doughy confections. Sadly, though, your selection is about to get a whole lot more limited. The company recently announced that it will be dropping a bunch of doughnuts from its menu, in addition to eliminating the word "Donuts" from its name.

One thousand Dunkin' Donuts around the country will start offering 18 doughnut flavors instead of 30. There's no word yet on which ones will stay and which will go.

Thankfully, the change may not happen everywhere, at least not yet.
"The test locations will offer a minimum of 18 core donuts with the opportunity to expand based on consumer feedback and regional preferences," a Dunkin' Donuts spokesperson told Delish. "We believe this approach will provide a more consistent experience from store to store, and in some cases, will actually increase both the variety and quantity of donuts available to our guests. We will assess the results of the test before making any determination about a possible national rollout."

While we're skeptical as to how this new change will actually increase our doughnut options, all hope is not lost yet. According to Thrillist, some chains may be downgrading to 24 donuts instead of 18.

Another silver lining? The plan is set to happen by the end of the month, but it looks like it won't effect any of your Halloween favorites. In fact, the store will be adding even more festive options to their menu, including a Spider Donut with eight legs and a Boston Scream Donut with orange drizzle. So at least we can be excited about that.
