Sheinelle Jones has been noticeably absent from The Today Show since December 2024, telling fans one month later that she was taking a temporary leave of absence due to a “family health matter.”
Although Sheinelle’s exact return date to the NBC morning show remains unknown, fellow Today anchor Dylan Dreyer recently shared a heartfelt update about how her colleague is doing, while making it clear that the entire Today family is rallying behind her.

"She's doing alright. She's hanging in there," the meteorologist reportedly told E! News at the 2025 Kentucky Derby on May 3rd.
"We're praying for her and her family. You know, she's just going through a tough time with her family," Dreyer continued, before confirming that her Today family are in daily contact with her and are offering their support in any way they can.
"We talk to her every day. One of us on the team talks to her every single day, and we're there to support her, and we'll welcome her back with open arms the second she can get back to us." Aww!

Sheinelle Jones first addressed her break from the show in January 2025, a month after stepping away, on Instagram.
"I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I've been absent from the show," she wrote at the time, before thanking her fans for their ongoing support.
"I want to share with you that I'm taking time to deal with a family health matter," she continued, adding: "It's not lost on [me] how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today Show family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I'll see you soon."
