Ellen DeGeneres has never been one to hold back in interviews, but during a recent holiday episode of her show, the host asked Justin Bieber some uncomfortable questions as to why he and wife Hailey Bieber had yet to have children. It is her job to prod, but something about this interview felt more invasive than usual, and Bieber was visibly rattled.

Following an Instagram post that Hailey shared on Thanksgiving, posing with a cooked turkey which she captioned, “1st time turkey maker (no it’s not burnt) Happy Thanksgiving,” Ellen began her line of questioning, asking Bieber if his wife actually cooked the bird, or if she relied on a personal chef and simply posed with it. The singer defended his wife, confirming that Hailey did, in fact, cook the turkey as he laughed uncomfortably.
Moving on, Ellen eventually turned to intrusive questions about Bieber’s personal life, asking “What’s the holdup?” on starting a family. Justin kept a straight face, explaining that “I think Hailey still has some things she wants to accomplish as a woman. And I think she just wants to--yeah, I think she just is not ready yet, and I think that’s okay.”
Justin and Hailey just celebrated their two year wedding anniversary in September, but the pair are still young and it seems like neither of them are ready to start a family. The couple have spoken out about their plans to have children in the future, but at just 24 and 26 years old, there’s no rush! Justin admitted, “I’d love to have myself a little tribe. But, yeah, it’s her body and whatever she wants to do.”
Ellen has had a rocky 2020 with claims of a ‘toxic’ work culture within her staff, and this awkward interview was just another show of the host being off her game. While everyone is curious about celeb personal lives, some questions are better left unasked.
