Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Porta de Rossi, are famous for many things. Still, more recently, people can’t stop talking about their drastic move from the United States to the UK following the comedian’s longtime talk show getting canceled. Now, there’s picking up and moving again.

Following reports that the couple was allegedly clashing with their neighbors in their English countryside home, Ellen officially made a statement that they would be moving into a new home. However, she stayed fairly tight-lipped on the comments surrounding her alleged neighborhood drama, and simply cited the reason as her wife needing more room to keep her horses on their property. Still, people can’t help but wonder what went down in their UK farmhouse. Read more about their next move below.

Ellen DeGeneres And Portia de Rossi Reveal They're Moving To A New Home In The UK

In November 2024, not long after Donald Trump was elected for a second term as President, Ellen and her wife of 16 years, actress Portia de Rossi, moved to England from the United States. They also didn't make the decision long after the talk show host was 'canceled' by social media and many pop culture enthusiasts for allegedly creating a toxic workplace environment on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Her show was an incredibly successful daytime series that ran for 19 years and featured stellar guests, but it all fell apart due to the reports that came from employees.

After purchasing a large farmhouse surrounded by land in the Cotswolds region of England, which is known for its beautiful countryside views, for around $20M, real estate agents began claiming that the property needed extensive renovations, so the couple got to work, reportedly adding extra amenities.

Since then, the popular couple started leaning into farm life, with the 67-year-old posting occasional pictures and videos of herself attempting to take care of their land, driving in oversized lawn mowers, and feeding their pet chickens. It seemed like a picturesque life, but Ellen recently revealed that she and her small family were packing up and moving again.

"When we decided to live here full time, we knew that Portia couldn't live without her horses, Ellen told The Wall Street Journal in a recent statement. "We needed a home that had a horse facility and pastures for them."

Ellen And Portia Reportedly Clashed With Their New Neighbors After Arriving From America

Although the television personality is chalking their next move up to her wife wanting more room for her animals on their property, some fans and other internet users are not so convinced that's the only reason why they'd leave a large, expensive home they had recently finished renovating. As it turns out, the renovations reportedly caused a stir amongst local residents.

People from the neighborhood they moved to began speaking up after the couple started renovating the large farmhouse and adding an extension, as there were some beliefs that they were living on or near historical Roman remains. They were pretty busy with the way they altered the home, reportedly adding an indoor swimming pool, gym, and more.

Residents worried that the extension to the old house may increase the risk of flooding, subsequently increasing the risk of harming the Roman remains. A letter from their area's parish council read, "Concern was expressed by residents that the hedge and wire fence could increase flood risk in the village if rubbish was swept down and 'caught on the fence,' thereby 'limiting flow across the field."

Although all the concerns were allegedly dismissed, with the discovery that the Roman remains were actually located 200 yards away from their property, some are speculating that the clash with local residents may be the real catalyst behind why Ellen and Portia are moving again. Whatever the cause, Ellen stands by her idyllic English lifestyle, and although she may be in a new home, she loves her new farm-inspired life for the time being.
