Many women these days have been learning more and opening up about Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and the adverse effects it can have on their bodies.
PCOS is a hormonal disorder that can not only cause cysts on the ovaries but also overall hormonal imbalances, weight gain, infertility, and more. Because of the symptoms, many women often look for whatever solutions they can find to help them feel better in their bodies, especially if the disorder causes them to lose weight.
As it turns out, taking certain supplements can help those with PCOS on their weight loss journies. Tallene Hacatoryan, a registered dietitian and content creator who specializes in PCOS, shared four “essential” supplements that can help promote weight loss and “support” hormones for those with the disorder in an Instagram reel. Read more about them below.
Omega-3 Fish Oil
"Studies show that women who took omega-3 for three months increased their metabolic rate by 14%," says Tallene in her video.
"That means you're burning 200 extra calories a day."
Omega-3s are not only great for your metabolism, according to Tallene, but they're also beneficial for other bodily functions, including your brain and heart health.

CoQ10
If you've never heard of CoQ10, it's a naturally occurring antioxidant that supports organ health and helps with all sorts of ailments like migraines, heart failure, and more.
"Studies show that women with PCOS who took CoQ10 for three months had a significant improvement in their insulin, glucose, and metabolism," says Tallene.
This is an especially excellent supplement for anyone who has struggled to lose weight due to PCOS, as it's known to cause insulin resistance, which makes it harder to shed unnecessary pounds.

Curcumin
Health experts have been recommending curcumin for a while, as it's known for being anti-inflammatory and can help promote recovery. It's also the active compound in turmeric, which many people use for its powerful anti-inflammatory properties.
"Studies show that it helps with inflammation and insulin resistance, which is great for weight loss, metabolism, and bloating," explains Tallene.

Multivitamin
Last but not least, many health and wellness experts believe that everyone should take a multivitamin to ensure they're getting in all their daily recommended levels of nutrients.
"Us women with PCOS struggle with chronic inflammation, which leads to nutrient deficiencies in essential nutrients like vitamin D, zinc, and magnesium," adds Tallene.
If you're unsure which multivitamin would be best for you, it's a good idea to speak to your doctor, who can run tests and figure out what you need more of, if anything.
