McDonald’s Egg McMuffin sandwiches are pure bliss–and no one can tell me otherwise. If a trip to the drive-thru is a part of your weekend plans, I see you. But there is one breakfast menu item that nobody should ever *ever* order, according to leading nutrition experts. Here’s everything you need to know about the calorie and fat bomb that is the Illinois-based chain’s signature “Big Breakfast.”

Big Breakfast With Hotcakes

The fast food chain’s complete breakfast meal is actually more like five meals in one. The meal comes with a biscuit, scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, hotcakes and butter–and an insane nutritional breakdown, experts warn.

“No one needs to eat 1,340 calories, 64 grams of fat, 155 carbohydrates, 2,090 grams of sodium and 48 grams of sugar (that’s 12 teaspoons) at one meal,” certified health and wellness coach and nutritionist Lynell Ross tells us.

“These numbers are more than most people should eat in a whole day, let alone at one meal,” she warns. Yikes!

But the effects are not only seen on your waistline, there are serious health risks to eating this meal regularly, she warns.

“By slamming down pancakes and biscuits and sugar that causes your pancreas to work overtime, loaded with butter and sausage and fried potatoes, you are overloading your body with saturated fat that clogs your arteries and sodium that raises your blood pressure,” she advises.

With foods like this on the menu at America’s favorite fast food chain, it’s no wonder that Type 2 diabetes and heart disease are on the rise!
