An iPhone that runs so slowly that it takes hours (or so it seems) to load pages is a phone in need of a few changes. More specifically: it would benefit a great deal from adjustments to one specific setting that is, no doubt, slowing it to a snail’s pace. Fortunately, it doesn’t take much to fix this common problem. Poonam Dogra, CEO of Fast Visibility Tech, says changing this setting immediately can help you get a faster phone. And when you’re finished focusing on the setting, there are a few more Dogra suggests turning your attention to that will make even more of an impact.

Background App Refresh

Background App Refresh allows apps to update their content even when not in use. “However, this constant background activity can consume valuable system resources, leading to decreased performance and slower operation,” Dogra says.

“To address this, access ‘Settings,’ select ‘General,’ and tap on ‘Background App Refresh.’ Disable the feature entirely or choose specific apps that can refresh in the background.”

Low Power Mode

Low Power Mode is a great way to save battery life, but it can also slow down your iPhone, according to Dogra. “This is because Low Power Mode turns off some features that can take up processing power, such as background app refresh and automatic downloads,” Dogra says. “To fix this, simply turn off Low Power Mode when you don't need it. You can do this by going to Settings > Battery and toggling off the Low Power Mode switch.”

Push Email

Push email automatically delivers new messages to your device as soon as they arrive. “While convenient, this feature constantly keeps your device connected to the server, resulting in increased battery drain and slower performance,” Dogra says. To mitigate this issue, Dogra recommends navigating to “Settings," choose "Mail," then "Accounts." Select your email account and switch from "Push" to "Fetch"or "Manual" to fetch new emails manually or at specified intervals.

Location Services

Location Services enable apps to access your device's GPS for various functionalities. “However, having multiple apps continuously track your location in the background can lead to excessive battery usage and reduced performance,” Dogra says. “To optimize performance, go to ‘Settings,’ tap on ‘Privacy,’ and select ‘Location Services.’ Disable location access for apps that don't require it or set them to use your location only when the app is in use.”

Dogra also includes some additional tips that you can use to speed up your iPhone:

* Restart your iPhone regularly: this can help to clear out any temporary files or other junk that may be slowing down your phone.

* Close apps that you're not using: Apps that are running in the background can still use up processing power, even if you're not actively using them.

* Keep your iPhone cool: If your iPhone gets too hot, it can start to slow down. Avoid using your iPhone in hot environments or leaving it in direct sunlight.

* Update your apps regularly: App developers often release updates that include bug fixes and performance improvements.

* Back up your iPhone regularly: This way, if you do need to reset your iPhone or restore it to factory settings, you won't lose any of your data.
