Gal Gadot has proven that she earned the title of Wonder Woman after speaking out about her former Justice League director Joss Whedon with allegations that he threatened to ruin her career if she ever pushed back against him. The 36-year-old actress revealed to Israeli news channel N12 last weekend the negative experience she had with Whedon after he stepped in to direct Justice League, adding her voice to the slew of women who have levelled allegations against the 56-year-old director.

On May 8, Gadot spoke frankly in an interview with channel N12, further explaining hints she had made about her experience with Whedon in the past. After previously revealing to Deadline that her time around Whedon “wasn’t the best one,” and that she “took care of it there and when it happened. I took it to the higher-ups,” the actress went on to explain the gravity of the situation.

“What I had with Joss, basically, is that he kind of threatened my career and told me that if I did something, he would ensure that my career would be miserable,” Gadot said, before continuing, “And I simply handled it on the spot.” While Gadot did not indulge the details as to why Whedon levelled threats against her career, the actress made it clear that she was displeased by the Buffy the Vampire Slayer creators conduct and handled it swiftly.

Gadot is not the only woman who has spoken out about Joss Whedon in the last year, with his ex-wife Kai Cole saying, “I want the people who worship him to know he is human, and the organizations giving him awards for his feminist work, to think twice in the future about honoring a man who does not practice what he preaches.” This was after Cole claimed Whedon had several extramarital affairs during their time together, and calling him a hypocrite feminist. Buffy actress Michelle Trachtenberg also shared that Whedon was not allowed in a room alone with her as she was a teen when filming took place, making the case against the director all the more compelling.
