Gwyneth Paltrow is known for her beauty and business savvy, but her latest Instagram post is sparking a different kind of conversation. The Goop founder honored fellow businesswomen and beauty gurus in a heartfelt Instagram post caption, but fans quickly noticed signs of sun damage on her neck and chest in one of the photos.
In the post’s first photo, Paltrow is wearing a low-cut tank top that reveals these areas, which are both covered in dark spots from sun exposure. In response, some fans are begging the 50-year-old Oscar winner to “get out of the sun” and wear sunscreen to protect her skin from further damage.
Last month, the wellness mogul uploaded a slideshow post with 5 photos. The first showed her lying on a couch with her friend, Kimberly Blackwell. (This seemed to be the image fans in Paltrow’s comment section focused on most!)

She then added a pic of her and friends doing yoga outside, another of a fire pit and chairs at a Utah resort, a selfie with her pal, entrepreneur Brit Morin, and another selfie with more coworkers to top it all off. Paltrow captioned her post: “Many women who lead have been told implicitly we need to approximate the masculine/“go” model of work to be successful/respected. I do not believe this.”
The mom of two added: “I wholeheartedly believe that women leaders work differently. We need community, creativity, and most importantly the permission to rest and restore. We do it differently, and it’s OK. That’s why we’re good when we are good.”

Many fans were moved by her caption, as one wrote: “100% YES” and another added: “Yes, friendship, community, rest, touch, light.” Others, however, focused on Paltrow’s presumable sun damage, with one commenting: “Sunblock Gwynnie!” Another replied: “Holy s—t gurl!!! Get out of the sun !!! I can se only sun damage on that photo!!”
This controversy comes months after Paltrow came under fire for promoting a minimal diet that was denounced by nutritionists and telling fans that she often only has “bone broth for lunch.”
Last week, the mom of two posted a bare-faced selfie, showing off her natural beauty and radiant glow. Fans in her comment section under this post, however, referred to her as “tan” and “sun-kissed.” Paltrow posed with writer Cleo Wade and captioned her pic: “@goop podcasters in paradise.”
