Why is Gwyneth Paltrow Leaving Goop?
Though Paltrow did say she’s “not ready to sell yet,” and "needs a few more years," the change in ownership is coming soon for the wellness brand. The Avengers: Endgame actress envisions selling what started out as just a weekly newsletter by her 55th birthday in 2027.
Since its humble beginnings as a newsletter sporting "new age" health advice, Goop has grown into a $250M company. But money isn't the reason the Spiderman actress is selling. “Money has never been my thing,” the 51-year-old explained to Bustle. “It’s never been my driver.”
The businesswoman said she's not in it for the fame, in fact she doesn’t enjoy the fame that’s come with her success at all. Rather, she enjoys “creating, collaborating, being struck with new ideas, innovating, thinking ahead, strategy, vision, that kind of thing.”
What’s Next For Goop?
Because of its unique products and nontraditional health advice, Paltrow says she has “no idea” who will buy her company, but with products like candles and perfumes named “This Smells Like My Vagina,” Goop is not a company that can be sold to just anyone (i.e. make her an offer!).

After announcing her retirement from acting in 2020, Paltrow said she’s tired of the “intense public scrutiny” that comes with being famous. The mother of two says that she’s very focused on her children these days, and is looking forward to being even more involved in their lives once she retires.
Though we can speculate about the delicious meals she’ll make and quality time she’ll spend with her kids, Gwyneth is adamant that she’ll be “disappearing” from the public eye, so we can only hope to hear what Gwyneth will do in her retirement.
