McDonald's Grilled Chicken Sandwich

Just because you're eating healthier does not mean you have to stick to only salads or fruit parfaits. If you're in the mood for a sandwich, one can definitely still fit into your healthy diet.

Specifically, try ordering the grilled chicken BLT sandwich next time you're at McDonald's.

Dave Zinczenko, Creator of the Zero Belly Diet, told Eat This, Not That!: "I turn to the indulgent-sounding, but not overly heavy Grilled Chicken BLT Sandwich."

He explains, "As long as you avoid the crispy version—which adds an unnecessary 180 calories and 14.5 grams of fat—the super-low calorie count of the chicken breast lets you enjoy some splurge-worthy toppings like bacon."

As a general rule of thumb when ordering fast food, grilled chicken options will be healthier than any fried chicken options--and more diet-friendly.

For an even healthier meal, you can order a grilled chicken sandwich without the bun or dressing.

Jim White RD, ACSM HFS, owner of Jim White Fitness and Nutrition Studios, explains to Eat This,"If I had to get a full meal from McDonald's, I'd order a grilled chicken sandwich, sans artisan bun and dressing. Removing the bun and dressing reduces the total fat by 6 grams and cuts 380 milligrams of sodium."

He also suggests adding a side salad to your order.
