While McDonald’s isn’t necessarily the first place you’d think to go if you’re trying to squeeze in a filling meal while on a weight loss journey, sometimes, it has to happen.

Although McDonald’s is often seen as a guilty-pleasure stop, it’s possible to make choices there that support your weight loss goals and help you keep your nutrition balanced. With a little planning, you can pick menu items that offer a good mix of protein, carbs, and healthy fats without going too overboard on calories or sugar. By being mindful of portions and customizing your order, you can enjoy a meal that fits your macros while still satisfying your fast-food cravings.

A fitness coach and content creator, Micah Smith, understands that sometimes, you find yourself relying on fast food for an easy meal, and he decided to share his high-protein McDonald’s order that can “help you stay on track with your macro goals.” And guess what? It includes chicken nuggets. Read more about it below.

Micah Shares A Quick Disclaimer In His TikTok Video

Although McDonald's is notorious for selling food that isn't exactly healthy or appropriate for weight loss, everyone knows that sometimes, it's just easier to stop at a drive-thru than cook a meal from scratch. This is especially true if you're on a road trip, can't make it home in time for dinner, or are simply exhausted.

Micah gets it, disclaiming in his TikTok video, "Before we get into this video, I want to let you know that this meal is, by no means, considered healthy, and I'm not promoting you to go out of your way to get fast food."

"This is simply if you're on the road or on the go and you need something quick to help stay within your macro goals when you're in a drive-thru," he continues.

We're all human, and while some hardcore health experts will warn you "never" to eat fast food, for many people, being able to get a quick, filling, somewhat affordable meal on the go is a miracle on super hard days. So, if you're trying to slim down but need a McDonald's fix, follow Micah's order.

Micah Reveals His Go-To 'Macro-Friendly' McDonald's Order

At the famous burger joint, Micah likes to order two of their classic menu items for maximum protein and, of course, some enjoyment.

While in the McDonald's drive-thru, the fitness coach orders a double hamburger and a six-piece order of the famous Chicken McNuggets. Doesn't that sound good? As it turns out, while the two items may be indulgent, they can still keep you in a decent macro-range. He purposefully orders the chicken nuggets, which he says "are taking of your typical french fries." Sorry, french fry lovers, but it's for the best.

"The total for this meal comes to 570 calories, 40 grams of protein, 47 grams of carbs, and 36 grams of fat," explains Micah. The fitness coach also adds that while most fast food restaurants will have high levels of fat in their menu items, his order is "still a nice, high-protein meal."

"The carbs aren't too bad, and it's going to get you by until you get back home so you can meal prep," notes Micah, suggesting that meal-prepping is one of the best ways to avoid having to go through a drive-thru line when you're on the go!
