Dua Lipa Talks About Her Favorite Abdominal Workouts

In a chat with Viva magazine, Lipa spilled the beans on her fitness routine. She shared insights into her preferred workout frequency, the ideal time of day for her, and the type of workouts she leans towards.

"I love doing something that’s really fast and quick, like a 15-minute HIIT session, which I can do before I start my day."

According to Viva, the podcaster also shared the secret to her toned midsection, mentioning that she maintains it through "variations of crunches."

Besides crunches, she says, "Planks are good, but definitely not my favorite!" Dua's go-to exercises include mountain climbers, jumping jacks, and burpees – she sure knows how to keep her workout routine exciting!

Naturally, given her hectic schedule, she can't spare hours for an extensive workout. However, it appears she's discovered a routine that suits her perfectly.

"If I’ve got a really early call time, I don’t want to be waking up hours before, so I do a high-intensity workout, shower, breakfast and I’m on my way," the 'Dance The Night' hitmaker said.

But when she does have moments to spare, she likes to mix different workouts, as she told Marie Claire: "I love mixing up lots of different training, finding different workouts in whatever city I'm in, whether it's yoga, Pilates, boxing or spinning."

But there's another workout as well that she truly enjoys. "I love boxing in my spare time. I like doing it for fitness [and] I like doing it just to kinda clear my mind. I really enjoy it. I like that it's definitely a full body workout. Since starting boxing I've probably been in the best shape ever. It's also a great stress reliever," she told Beauty Crew.

Experts Share The Benefits of HIIT, Yoga, And Pilates

Numerous trainers and fitness gurus have sung praises for the advantages of HIIT, yoga, and pilates, all contributing to the toning of abdominal muscles.

Andrew White, a NASM-certified personal trainer and the co-founder of garagegympro.com, revealed that "HIIT is effective for reducing belly and waist fat because it elevates your heart rate and metabolism. The intense efforts during short intervals burn calories and trigger the afterburn effect, where your body continues to burn calories even after the workout."

"HIIT involves short bursts of high-intensity exercises followed by brief rest or low-intensity periods. You can incorporate various exercises like sprints, jump squats, burpees, or cycling into your HIIT routine," he says.

As for planks, which Dua also does for a toned midsection, White says, "Planks target the entire core, including the deep abdominal muscles. They improve core strength, stability, and posture. While primarily a toning exercise, planks do burn some calories due to muscle engagement."
