There are many notable figures having to acknowledge the Epstein files these days, and one of them at the forefront is Hillary Clinton.

The former presidential candidate recently sat through a deposition and testified in front of the House Oversight Committee as they further investigate Jeffrey Epstein. During her eventful testimony, Hillary stated that she had “no idea” about the crimes the disgraced financier had committed and maintained she never visited his island. The internet quickly responded to her statements, with some still skeptical about her involvement, and others relieved that there is finally further investigation going into the matter. Read more about what she had to say below.

Hillary Clinton Testifies Before The House Oversight Committee During Jeffrey Epstein Investigation

One of the biggest things rattling the nation right now is the latest release of the shocking and eye-opening Epstein files, which contain documents, photos, and more that not only detail his crimes but have exposed other notable figures in politics and entertainment who were affiliated with him to some degree.

Now that the files are in the hands of the public, despite sensitive pieces of information being redacted, many celebrities and politicians are expected to answer for their suspected involvement with the notorious criminal. This week, two extremely famous names in politics, Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, had separate planned depositions with the House Oversight Committee as part of their investigation.

On Thursday, the What Happened author had a six-hour, closed-door deposition, where she stated that despite her husband's relationship to Epstein and her name appearing in the files, she had "no idea" of his criminal activity years ago, and called the Congressional investigation,"

"I don't know how many times I had to say I did not know Jeffrey Epstein," she said during her opening statement. "I never went to his island, I never went to his home, I never went to his offices."

Social Media Users React To Hillary's Deposition Statements

In addition to maintaining that she never had a personal relationship with the convicted trafficker and was unaware of the awful crimes he committed, the former Secretary of State also subtly hinted that she felt that she needed to sit for a long deposition as opposed to the president himself and other powerful figures named in the files was unfair.

"You have compelled me to testify, fully aware that I have no knowledge that would assist your investigation, in order to distract attention from President Trump's actions and to cover them up despite legitimate calls for answers," she added in her statement.

After the six-hour affair came to an end, Hillary spoke to reporters outside the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center in New York, telling them, "It was disappointing that they refused to hold a public hearing so I wouldn't have to be out here characterizing it for you. You could have seen it for yourself. We had asked for that. We think it would have been better for the committee and its efforts to gather whatever information they are seeking."

On social media platforms, Americans and other internet users weighed in on the famous female presidential candidate's deposition, writing about how they're hoping it's the start of a thorough investigation into those who need to be held accountable for their ties to Epstein.

"We need politicians who are willing to take legal action against them and make them face real consequences," commented a user on Reddit.

"So they have plenty of questions for the Clintons, but they won't question Trump under oath as his name is also in the files numerous times?" asked another. "I don't understand the hypocrisy here."

"I hope, in some way, all of this brings us to an era of accountability for all," added a user.
