Grab your favorite mug, put a kettle on the stove, and warm yourself up a nice hot cup of green tea because doctors recommend this tasty hot drink in the morning to help those stubborn last few pounds of fat melt away.
“Including a cup of green tea in the morning with your breakfast and not on an empty stomach can possibly help with weight loss,” says Dr. Jennifer Stagg, a naturopathic physician.

Experts believe green tea helps you lose weight as it has a positive effect on hormones related to your metabolism, including ghrelin and adiponectin. Ghrelin is the hormone responsible for increasing appetite and adiponectin is involved in regulating glucose levels. This same hormone also breaks down fatty acids in the body.

Just one cup of green tea every morning can help you lose weight when coupled with a healthy diet and regular exercise, in addition to a long list of other health benefits. Green tea has been found to be soothing and great at reducing inflammation in the body, as well.

“It appears green tea should be consumed during the light phase – the morning – of our 24-hour circadian rhythm because that timeframe greatly impacts fat metabolism,” says Dr. Stagg.
