I Never Realized My Hair Could Look THIS Amazing--Until I Tried Tape-In Extensions

I would say that I like my hair but I don’t LOVE it. I can air dry it, which is great, but I spend *lot of* money on highlights and my hair can have the tendency to fall flat after a long day. Its fine but I have a lot of it, so I’ve always been on the cusp of wanting extensions for fullness but then backing out because I didn’t want to add more time and money to my hair routine. Ya know what I mean?

That was, until I went through the dreaded post-pregnancy hair loss. I went from having full, gorgeous hormone hair for a year to flat, straggly strands that were worse than before I got pregnant. After the fallout, I was really missing that Victoria’s Secret fullness, so I decided to finally give extensions a try. Honestly, it was a life-changing decision.

(My stylist has been telling me to try them for years, and I work in the beauty industry so they’re pretty unavoidable, but I really had been dragging my feet.)

The place that finally got me to take the plunge was GlamSeamless, the affordable extension brand that sells hair online as well as in their recently-opened Flagship Store and Salon. The process could not have been easier (see below) and the pay-off was AMAZING.  I’ve honestly never gotten more compliments on my hair—air dried or styled—in my life. Here’s everything you need to know:

I made an appointment at their Soho, New York location. I was met by a friendly stylist named Robert who took a look at my hair and quickly color-matched it—which is not easy since I have multi-toned hair from years of highlighting. He couldn’t have matched it more perfectly–the color is amazing. We discussed what my objectives were for the hair—I didn’t necessarily want the length that you think of with extensions, just some fullness on the sides of my head. I explained that I’m a busy mom of two young kids, and that whatever I got needed to be manageable on a daily basis. He walked me through the instructions for brushing, washing and daily hair care and I finally get confident that I could “handle” them. It’s a misconception that they’re high maintanence.

The installation was so easy as well; I just sat in their pretty pink Soho space sipping on a latte and scrolling through my phone while Robert applied the tape-ins. We decided on ten pieces of hair, versus the 20 or so that you might get with a full install if you wanted to add length (which is absolutely gorgeous, just not for me right now). He then gave the hair a trim and a stunning blowout. WHO IS SHE??
