Shayk told PEOPLE that Lea "clearly understands the job[s]" that her parents maintain. Still, she and the Maestro actor are focused on making their child "feel comfortable."

"She has very, very little digital access, almost down to none," Shayk explains. Instead, the focus is on "building community, friends, and just giving love." She adds, "This is the best thing that you could give to your kid, raising them in a loving family."
She also opened up about being a mother and how she raises Lea in a world where there are new beauty standards constantly. "To be a woman in power, you have to feel comfortable in your own skin. To be part of the Pirelli Calendar—I'm literally in the right time in my life. I'm a mother, and I know who I am; I know what I stand for..." she revealed, adding, "I just feel like there are so many beauty standards out there that of course I try to protect my daughter from."
The actor and Irina started dating in spring 2015, making their first public appearance together at Paris Fashion Week in 2016. They welcomed their daughter in March 2017. The couple split in 2019 after four years together but have stayed on friendly terms to co-parent their daughter.
