Katy Perry is currently trending due to her new relationship and latest music releases, but behind it all, her legal battle continues to rattle a family.

The singer-songwriter, who is continuing to be slammed online as the son of the veteran she’s been taken to court against due to a real estate legal battle, spoke out once again on how the situation has affected their family. Chart Westcott Gives An Update On His Father's Legal Battle Against Katy Perry

If you're a fan of the "California Girls" singer, then you've likely been hearing about her current legal drama against an 85-year-old veteran over a house she owned with her ex, Orlando Bloom.

In 2020, Katy purchased a mansion in California for $15M from Carl Westcott, a former veteran and the wealthy founder of 1-800-Flowers. Not long after the sale was about to be finalized, the veteran wanted to change his mind and back out, claiming that the pain medication he was taking following a recent back surgery, all related to his degenerative brain condition, altered his mental status at the time he agreed to sell to the singer.

Over the last three years, the veteran and pop star have been going back and forth in court, with Westcott's legal team arguing the sale should be voided and Katy's stating there was no evidence that the veteran was incapacitated upon selling the mansion to her. In 2023, a judge ruled in Katy's favor, and she eventually sued for damages, being rewarded over $1M. The final court decision to confirm that ruling is set to happen at the end of this month. With the final court ruling on the horizon, the entrepreneur's son, Chart Westcott, is speaking out on the situation.

"This has been a lengthy and exhausting legal process," he told Realtor. "We look forward to a final verdict so our family can put this behind us and spend these remaining days in peace with our father."

The Internet Slams Katy Perry As 'Mean' And 'Despicable' As Carl Westcott's Family Looks Forward To 'Justice'

Although the court has been ruling in Katy's favor, numerous members of the public and the internet have been looking down on her, especially as the 1-800-Flowers founder's family has been stressing that the court drama has been allegedly making him feel worse as his health has declined more over the last three years.

Internet users and other media personalities have been slamming the singer over the situation, calling her "mean" and "despicable" on social platforms. While she's stayed relatively silent about her court battles, the Westcott family certainly hasn't, and they're seeking justice for their elderly relative.

"We are grateful for the support and patience of our friends and community, and we trust the court to complete this process and deliver justice for our father, Carl," Chart told the above publication.
