Kanye West and Irina Shayk began their rumored romance back in May after West ended his nearly 7-year-marriage to Kim Kardashian, but sources close to the pair have revealed that the budding relationship is already over following just a few months together. After first meeting back in 2010 and later embarking on a romantic French vacation together in June of this year, Shayk and West have gone their separate ways, and were reportedly more casual than they initially seemed.
Just four months after the start of their fling, West and Shayk have called things off with multiple outlets speaking to the nature of the relationship, revealing that it was nothing more than a casual romance rather than a full blown relationship. A source close to the pair revealed to Us Weekly that, “Kanye and Irina are over, but they never really started, there’s nothing going on there.”
The source also added that after the short time they spent together, they realized “they aren’t great romantic partners,” leading to the split. West has been busy promoting his tenth studio album, Donda, and according to Entertainment Tonight, the pairing was simply not built to last.
A source told the publication at the start of the romance, “The two of them have always just been having fun together.” They also added, “They're both doing their own thing and down to have a good time without any strings attached.” Evidently nothing was ever serious between the pair as the 44-year-old rapper moved on from his nearly 7 year marriage to Kardashian, and Shayk dated casually after ending things with ex Bradley Cooper back in 2019, with whom she shares a daughter.
Shayk and West initially met back in 2010 on the set of the rapper’s ‘Power’ music video, with reports revealing that, “He’s always thought she was beautiful and they’re both looking forward to seeing where this goes.” While the budding relationship may be over before it even began, the pair seem to have ended on good terms, with a source telling People, “Kanye has been busy working and spending time with his kids. This is his focus. He doesn't have time to date right now. He finds Irina amazing though. They remain friendly.”
