Jenna Bush Hager Interviews Minka Kelly & Asks Her About Her Boyfriend
Earlier this week, on November 18th, the popular show host was getting through another episode of Today with Jenna & Friends, alongside actress Olivia Munn, who was her guest co-host.
One of the episode's segments included an interview with 45-year-old actress Minka Kelly, who was making an appearance on the show to talk about her latest Christmas-themed romantic comedy, Champagne Problems. The film was released on November 19th, and the Friday Night Lights actress seemed to be in good spirits as she discussed the plot of the movie. Then, things seemed to take a turn as Jenna began asking questions more related to her personal life.
After discussing the movie, the former 'First Daughter' addressed an Instagram post Minka had shared for her boyfriend, frontman of Imagine Dragons, Dan Reynolds. The post was quite long and heartfelt, but when Jenna asked Minka to "talk" about her "new love," she did not want to give all that much information and made uncomfortable facial expressions.
"Sounds like you don't want to talk about it," responded Jenna, uncomfortably laughing and telling the show's producers they didn't need to cut to a video clip of Dan, before Olivia Munn started telling a story about working with him.
Social Media Reacts To The Viral Interview
Due to the 'awkward' nature of that part of the interview between Jenna, Olivia, and Minka, it didn't take long for clips of it to go viral on social media. Although there were some mixed reactions, many Today viewers and other internet users began weighing in on how they felt the 43-year-old host should've handled the situation better, and that she was in the wrong.
"Jenna was incredibly rude to Minka," wrote a YouTube user.
One viewer analyzed the clip and interview, writing, "It's not the question that was the problem, it was the manner in which it was asked."
"You [can] see Olivia's reaction as soon as that question is asked," they continued. "She's shocked at how straightforward and invasive it was."
"This got awkward," added a viewer. "Yikes."
Although neither Jenna nor Minka has commented on the interview or the backlash the daytime personality has received, it's still making headlines, especially as the actress continues giving more press stops while promoting her new film.
