The 125 Best New Beauty Launches Of 2023

Friday Night Lights is often—and rightly— called "the best show you're not watching", and while a drama about a sleepy Texas town's football-centric hopes and dreams may not seem like a breeding ground for fab fashion (like, say, Gossip Girl), the four female leads are so strongly written and acted that you'll want to buy whatever it is they're selling. Far from being just a show about football, Friday Night Lights is a striking and realistic character study that's superbly art directed, so it figures the wardrobe department has the ladies dressed in wearable, camera-friendly clothes we can all copy from.

Tami Taylor: The words "hot" and "mama" were put together explicitly for women like coach's wife and school guidance counselor Tami (played by Connie Britton). She keeps it professional while showing off her curves and staving off the Texas sun. To get Tami's flirty, no-nonsense style, pick pieces that accentuate the positive, like Cynthia Steffe's Polka-Dot Wrap Dress ($150) that boasts just a hint of bodacious cleavage. Or beat the heat in Yaya Aflalo's Garnet-Colored Ruffled Tank ($120) – it's perfect for fiery redheads like Tami, and it's got a little something extra over its Fruit of the Loom brethren.

Julie Taylor: As the coach's daughter, rebellious smartypants Julie (played by Aimee Teegarden) is trying hard not to show her Dillon Panther pride by opting for more alternative looks. Try a thermal tank with a feminine floral print ($39) or add your favorite bands' buttons to Diesel's Army Green Cropped Jacket ($156).

Tyra Collette: This bad girl with a heart of gold (played by Adrianne Palicki) is the long-legged blond Amazon you loved to hate when you were in high school. She knows she doesn't have to try very hard to get attention, so she picks pieces like Rebecca Beeson's gray scoopneck tee ($35), which, when paired with jeans, looks effortlessy chic. All done up, she opts for something simple with a little flash, like ABS's Black Halter Dress with subtle rhinestone detail ($80) to show everyone what she's made of.

Lyla Garrity: This not-that-innocent cheerleader (played by Minka Kelly) keeps up appearances by wearing a lot of demure, girly pastels and pristine white. Look for gauzy fabrics and sweet details like eyelet patterns. Nicole Miller's White Ocean Pacific Dress ($160) is a perfect Lyla pick—ladylike with a hint of skin-showing sex appeal. And Sweetees' Lilac Cami ($30) is a great match with a short jean skirt or more covered up khakis.

If you haven't watched FNL, it's time to get hooked on the show (watch full episodes at NBC.com). And if you're already an avid fan who wants to make sure the Lights stay on, take BuzzSugar's tips for preserving this phenomenal program and leave your Lights love in the comments section below.
