Jennifer Lopez is under fire after she posted a tribute to herself and her sister for their summer birthdays on Instagram, which some followers thought was a little too focused on herself.
The “Jenny From The Block” singer recently posted a carousel of images in honor of her and her sister, Lynda Lopez, and their summertime birthdays. The two sisters recently took a special trip for themselves out to Europe, embracing all that comes with a ‘Euro Summer.’ However, after scrolling through her pictures, which included one of her and a bathtub and some of her decked out in glamorous clothes, fans and other Instagram users pointed out how many of the pictures for the “double birthdays” were centered around her. Jennifer Lopez Shares Photos From Her & Lynda Lopez's 'Double Birthdays' Trip On Instagram
The actress and singer is celebrating her 57th birthday this week, but kicked off her festivities even earlier with an overseas trip alongside her younger sister, Lynda Lopez, who is an Emmy-winning journalist and published author.
The pair of sisters traveled to Europe, which included a stop in Paris for Fashion Week and other high-profile events. Once their travels concluded, on July 20th, the Monster-In-Law star shared a series of pictures from their adventures, including snaps of them together, and several solo photos of her in extravagant fashions, a selfie, and more. There was also a head-turning image of Jennifer sitting in a bathtub while her sister ate some food on the bathroom floor.
In her caption, she wrote about being grateful to have celebrated her July 24th birthday at the same time as her sister's birthday, which is June 14th.
"A double birthday sister trip is always a good idea!" she wrote. "I love you, Lynnie!! Happy birthday!!"
Social Media Users Slam Jennifer's Post In The Comments
After the New York native's post was shared with her massive amount of Instagram followers, it didn't take long for it to go viral, especially since she doesn't post a ton of family content with her two sisters. However, some of her loyal fans recognize that Lynda, or 'Lynnie,' is especially close to her and has attended numerous prestigious events by her side.
However, in the comments section of Jennifer's "double birthdays" post, there were numerous social media users who pointed out that many of the pictures in it were solo shots of her. In a series of 16 photos, 11 of them were of Jennifer by herself or with people other than her younger sister. This discovery led some to slam the post as "corny" and an example of narcissism.
"Happy birthday to my sister!" began a sarcastic commenter. "Here's a picture of me."
"Why are all the pics of you [though]?" asked another. "Usually when I'm wishing someone a happy birthday, I don't post pics of myself," a user noted. "I'll post pics of me and them, or just them, but not just of me. That's called narcissism."
One user called the birthday post "super corny," as another added, "How are you going to post a birthday post to your sister and a sister vacation, having the majority of the pictures are selfies?"
"This is a very self-serving tribute," a user wrote.
"It's your sister's celebration, or is it you celebrating yourself?" asked another, adding the hashtag' #selfabsorbedmuch.'
