Austin Butler made headlines this week, after a video of him dancing awkwardly backstage at a Bad Bunny concert in Puerto Rico went viral. And as he was a guest on The Tonight Show… Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this week, the comedian made sure to ask him about it when he sat on the couch!

The Oscar-nominated Elvis star hilariously explained that his dance moves during Bad Bunny’s No Me Quiero Ir De Aquí (I Don’t Want to Leave Here) residency were partly due to him taking an edible just before the concert, and partly down to him not wanting to draw too much attention to himself.

Jimmy Fallon Discusses Austin Butler’s Viral Dancing From Bad Bunny’s Concert

“Somebody gave me an edible right before the show and I thought that was a good idea at the time,” the Eddington actor explained, before confirming that he doesn’t like to be the center of attention, despite having the “ironic” job of being an actor.

“I don’t even like people singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to me,” he confessed. “So suddenly, I’m onstage with Bad Bunny, and the edible is working. It was wild!” he exclaimed. He then went on to say that he was torn during the concert, as part of him wanted to enjoy the moment, while the other part wanted to “hide.”

This is why he ended up “swaying my hips while crossing my arms.” The Dune: Part Two actor then added: “Because for whatever reason, every time I uncrossed my arms, I felt like I was drawing attention to myself.”

But Butler isn’t the only one to be filmed dancing at a concert, as Fallon himself was caught awkwardly dancing at a Harry Styles concert back in 2022. The video understandably went viral at the time, and it has now gained traction again thanks to Butler’s video.

Fallon shared the clip on his Instagram account in 2023, captioning it: “Happy Birthday Harry! (Sorry I danced like this at your concert.)” Fallon could be seen in the front row, with one social media user likening his moves to someone trying to get water out of their ear, while another compared it to their parents dancing.

Social Media Comments

“So cringe,” commented one fan on Fallon’s Instagram post. “Is there water in your ear?” asked a second, as a third echoed: “The old ‘water in the ear.’ Classic.” A fourth questioned: “Having a seizure are we?” “Midlife crisis manifested,” quipped a fifth, followed by the crying laughing emoji.

“Are you ok? Looks like you are in pain,” wrote a sixth fan. “You are so embarrassing,” slammed a seventh, as an eighth said: “Dance? If u wanna call it that.” “I love that you dance like a parrot,” commented a ninth, followed by the crying laughing emoji, while a tenth said Fallon had “dad moves.”

The comments continued over on TikTok, and they were perhaps even harsher! “My parents dance exactly like that,” quipped one TikTok user, as a second said “Fallon has no rhythm.” Ouch! “Is Jimmy all good?” asked a third, as a fourth said the whole thing was “hard to watch.” “Why does he look like he’s got water stuck in his ear?” asked yet another fan, while someone else said: “Jimmy Fallon is so embarrassing.”
