Justin Timberlake has come under fire recently for his lack of energy on tour. With barely any choreography and lots of letting fans sing the choruses of songs in his place, it was understandable that the internet starting calling him out for his “lackluster” performances. That is, until Justin provided the truth: with a post on Instagram, the singer revealed that he’s been diagnosed with Lyme disease. Keep reading for more information.

Justin Timberlake’s ‘Lackluster’ Performances
After numerous concerts in which JT seemingly took things easy, fans took to social media to share their feelings on the matter. In the videos circulating online, Justin’s hit song, “Can’t Stop The Feeling,” starts playing, but after saying just the first three words, “I got this…” Justin puts his microphone down on the stage and begins wandering around, making some low-effort hand movements while the crowd sings the words.
While a dance break is certainly common in concerts, the “Sexyback” singer clearly had no choreography planned. Letting the crowd take the first verse, Justin picked up the microphone to sing the first few words of the refrain, before letting the crowd take the lead yet again. As many (angry) fans are putting it, this is less Justin Timberlake: World Tour and more Justin Timberlake: Karaoke Tour.
Fans left comments online like: ""The Crowd ft. Justin Timberlake," "This concert could have been an email," and "That's like the self check out version of a concert." Were these sorts of reactions what spurred the 44-year-old to let fans in on his truth? Probably.
Justin Admits He Has Lyme Disease
In an emotional Instagram post reflecting on his tour experience over the past two years, the "Sexyback" singer was honest with his fans. "As many of you know, I’m a pretty private person. But as I’m reflecting on the tour and festival tour – I want to tell you a little bit about what’s going on with me," he wrote in the comment section.

"Among other things, I’ve been battling some health issues, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease," he revealed. "Which I don’t say so you feel bad for me –– but to shed some light on what I’ve been up against behind the scenes. If you’ve experienced this disease or know someone who has — then you’re aware: living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically."
"When I first got the diagnosis I was shocked for sure," he continued. "But, at least I could understand why I would be onstage and in a massive amount of nerve pain or, just feeling crazy fatigue or sickness. I was faced with a personal decision. Stop touring? Or, keep going and figure it out. I decided the joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body was feeling. I’m so glad I kept going."

Fans Voice Their Support
In the comment section of this post, fans were much more understanding and supportive. "You’re a legend!" one person wrote. "Thank you for everything you have done over the years. Enjoy your time with the family and rest up!"
"Well, this explains a couple of things..." another user wrote. "The only thing we're sure of is that you have incredible talent and professionalism. Every show was impactful, full of magic, and for that we are grateful."
"Grateful for you and your kindness and incredible work ethic brother!!!" reads another comment.
"Go rest king!" said another fan. "You deserve it!"
