Kaley Cuoco sensationally revealed that she was forced to stage an intervention on herself while filming season two of The Flight Attendant, to help her deal with her “super dark” depression following her and Karl Cook’s divorce. Poor Kaley!

Kaley and Karl announced their shock separation last year, after just three years of marriage, saying in a joint statement that even though they had a “a deep love and respect for one another,” their “current paths” had taken them in “opposite directions,” but ultimately there was “no anger or animosity.” They first got together in 2016, the same year Kaley got officially divorced from her first husband, 35-year-old former professional tennis player Ryan Sweeting, who she was married to for just 21 months.

In a new interview with Variety, the 36-year-old actress revealed that filming The Flight Attendant as she was going through the painful divorce was particularly difficult for her, as her character Cassie Bowden had also hit rock bottom in the second season. Kaley confessed that splitting from the 31-year-old pro equestrian was especially lonely for her, and hinted that although the pair seemed to have a picture-perfect relationship on the red carpet and on social media, perhaps everything wasn’t as “perfect” as it seemed…

“It was the loneliest I’ve ever felt, and I am not really someone to share that,” the Big Bang Theory actress confessed. “I’ve been very open about it, because I think for the first time, I wanted people to know that things just aren’t always what they seem. And things aren’t always so perfect. I’m a working woman, and so independent, and I really take pride in being able to do everything. Well, this time, I literally couldn’t.”

“It was one of the hardest years of my life. Not only personally, but doing this character that was so tormented,” she continued, in reference to her Flight Attendant character. “It was the first time that I started therapy — I’ve been very open about that … just because I was going through so much right before we started shooting.”

And it wasn’t just her mental health that suffered, as the 8 Simple Rules alum also revealed that she broke out in painful rashes that even made walking a struggle! “It was horrible,” Kaley continued. “I developed a stress rash that ran all the way down my body for three straight months that wouldn’t go away. I literally, like, had fire on my leg for three months. I could barely walk.” Wow, we had no idea!

Kaley went on to say that co-star Zosia Mamet, 34, who plays the role of Annie Mouradian on the HBO Max show, was her savior in so many ways, and the pair even moved in together! “I really needed someone with me. I was really losing my mind,” she recalled. “And then so many of these scenes were so hard to do because they were so hateful, so sad, and so dark, and there wasn’t a lot of levity.”

Kaley then went on to say that after one month of filming, she was forced to ask the production team for help, revealing: “One month in, I had an intervention on myself in my trailer — all my producers were in there. And I said, ‘I need help.’ It was interesting to say that out loud. And to have everyone be like, ‘Yes, we want to help!'”

The Harley Quinn actress then confessed that her initial idea to use work as a distraction during what she called a “super dark time” didn’t actually help, due to the “depressed” character she was playing! “I just didn’t know how to deal with it,” she recalled. “I was throwing myself into work to deny my depression, and how upset I was.  Unfortunately, the character was so depressed that it wasn’t helping me! I was really, really, really struggling. A lot of tears.”

Thankfully, Kaley’s depression seems to be a distant memory now, as she went public with her new relationship with Ozark’s Tom Pelphrey, 40, back in May – and the pair seem so happy together!
