We will never tire of reflecting on Kate Middleton‘s sartorial wins from over the years, of which there have unsurprisingly been many.
One look which has lived rent-free in our minds for many years was the outfit the then Duchess of Cambridge wore to The Sun Military Awards way back in 2011, the same year she and Prince William had their epic royal wedding.
Kate Middleton Wears Strapless Alexander McQueen Gown To The Sun Military Awards
For the event, which took place at London's Imperial War Museum in December 2011, the now Princess of Wales looked breathtaking in a bespoke strapless black velvet Alexander McQueen gown.
Of course, nothing was going to top her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress, but this strapless black number sure did come close! The dress clung to her frame perfectly and highlighted her tiny waist, and was finished off with a subtle train.
The mom-of-three accessorized with black Jimmy Choo suede pumps and a Pretty Ballerinas black velvet blow clutch. She also added a Mouawad diamond and ruby necklace and a matching bracelet, both of which were reportedly wedding gifts from a friend. And of course, she wore her iconic brunette locks in her signature center-parted curly down do.

Fan Comments
"She is so beautiful and classy. Diana would have been proud of her son's choice," gushed one royal fan on a Daily Mail article featuring pictures of the event at the time. "Kate is looking fabulous! Show em' how it's done Duchess," praised a second, as a third concurred: "She is absolutely beautiful."
The glowing comments continued over on a more recent throwback YouTube video of the look. "Kate looks magnificently beautiful," raved another fan. "Catherine can wear anything and look amazing! Elegance and class that you can't buy!" exclaimed another.
"The Duchess is so naturally beautiful that no matter what she wears, she is stunning," wrote another approving fan, as another also had positive things to say about Prince William, writing: "They always look elegant and perfect."
