Kate Middleton was recently accused of copying Meghan Markle’s style in a viral Reddit thread—but royal fans were quick to push back on the claims!
In a multi-slide post, Meghan’s fans attempted to present side-by-side “evidence” suggesting that the Princess of Wales has copied several of Meghan’s fashion choices.
One example included a white pantsuit—Meghan wore hers in 2022, while Catherine stepped out in a similar ensemble a year later. However, royal fans in the thread quickly debunked the claim, pointing out that Kate actually wore a white suit in March 2022, a month before Meghan’s appearance in April.

Another comparison focused on a long navy blue coat. Meghan wore hers in 2018 at the launch of her recipe book, while Kate was seen in a similar style in 2022. But the thread took things a step further, showing archival photos of Princess Diana wearing a nearly identical coat in 1987—ultimately concluding that the look predates both women, effectively dismissing the copying accusations.
The original author of the thread said, "Some “copies” are a reach. White shirt, black blazer? Black turtlenecks? Everyone has one of those in their closets," adding, "The blue coat and black turtleneck combo was in fact worn by Diana a few times before. Both Catherine and Meghan have channeled Diana’s outfits a few times, one of which was a grey coat with velvet accents on the collar."

If people weren't so obsessed with one pair of people and looked at photos of thousands of celebrities in the same time window, there would be hundreds of women "copying" another woman's look."
Meghan has recently been dressed in super baggy suits, which one user pointed out, "If the Princess of Wales were really copying Meghan, I'd expect to see Catherine wearing baggy, ill-fitting, wrinkled clothes."
