There are a lot of strict rules that Prince William and Kate Middleton have to follow as working representatives of the British Monarchy – and one of those rules is not engaging in any public displays of affection while they are on official duties. That even includes hand holding and embracing, FYI. However, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge briefly broke royal protocol when they walked the green carpet for the Earthshot Prize Awards on Sunday October 17th – and we have the pictures to prove it!
Turns out that the future King and Queen of England weren’t actually that ashamed of their rare PDA (PDA by royal standards, and definitely not by Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker standards. Can you *imagine*?!) as they even posted a slideshow of some behind-the-scenes and previously unseen black and white pictures to their official Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Instagram account. The first picture shows a candid moment between the couple sharing what looks like a cute and funny moment as they are walking, while the third picture – perhaps the most shocking of all – shows Kate embracing her husband, with her hand resting lovingly behind his back. They look more in love than ever, and are definitely the epitome of royal couple goals. All together now: awwww!

The post currently has over 840,000 likes – half a million of which were reportedly garnered within the first hour of the post going live! They captioned the post: “Behind the scenes at the first ever @EarthshotPrize Awards @chrisjacksongetty for The Royal Foundation.” As you can imagine, the post received a lot of comments from excited royalists and more specifically, Kate and Wills fans, who noted how pure and wonderful their romance looked. “How lovely to see genuine love and affection,” one user wrote, alongside a black heart emoji. “The loveliest pair imaginable,” another gushed, while many other IG users likened the couple’s romance to something out of a story book, with one user writing: “Like a scene from a fairytale,” followed by the heart eyes emoji, which featured regularly in the comments section.
“Wow!!! Beautiful photos of our future King and Queen,” exclaimed another, and added the heart eyes emoji (see, we told you it was a popular choice!) and not one but two fire emojis. “There is not one person walking the face of this earth that has more class and grace than Catherine.. not one!! truly an inspiration,” wrote another fan, followed by a red heart emoji.
