Kate Middleton divided fans with the outfit she wore to the wedding of Prince William’s cousin Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling on Saturday, June 6th.
The Princess of Wales, 44, seldom gets it wrong sartorially, but this time her outfit was criticized for a number of different reasons, including being “frumpy” and “matronly” and being dangerously close to the white color typically reserved for the bride.

Kate Middleton Wears A Dark Cream Roland Mouret Dress To Peter Phillips' Wedding
For the wedding of Princess Anne's son, which took place in Gloucester, the Princess of Wales wore a cream-colored tweed Roland Mouret midi dress, which came complete with short sleeves, button details on the front and inverted pleats through the skirt.
The mom-of-three accessorized with a wide-brimmed Jane Taylor boater hat and coordinating nude heels, and wore her hair in her signature slightly curly down do, with her Kiki McDonough earrings peeking through.
Some royal fans and fashion enthusiasts took issue with the color, as they deemed it a little too light for a wedding, where, as we all know, white is frowned upon. For what it's worth, Queen Camilla also wore a fairly light-colored ensemble, which was criticized online. And then there were those who thought the whole outfit was "wrong," as well as outdated, "frumpy," and more.

Social Media Reactions
"This is one of the frumpiest dresses on Mouret's website. There are other dresses that are much more interesting than this mess. Leave it to Kate, though. I will say something positive: she didn't pull attention away from the bride!" quipped one Reddit user.
"I know Kate's dress has to cost an insane amount of money but it looks very dressed down and dowdy for a summer wedding," slammed a second, as a third declared: "This is why she needs a stylist. Not only because a good stylist will show her outfits that are socially appropriate and won't photograph badly, but because then she would have someone to blame for when she ignores the stylist's advice and wears clothes that are somehow both matronly and childish at the same time."
"I had to google to see if Kate ever hired a new stylist since her old one left, and yep, she's apparently still styling herself. Yikes," agreed a fourth. "It's as if they're in a time warp where they dress like the 1950s," thought a fifth, as a sixth chimed in: "It's very colorless and bland, almost like she may be trying to 'blend in' or hide away amongst the crowd."
"Kate used to always be the standout at these things, but she's probably the worst styled out of all of them. Even worse than Camilla, Beatrice and Eugenie. That's saying something," wrote a seventh. "Horrible and all wrong! The whole thing. Money can't afford good taste," agreed an eighth, as a ninth quipped: "She's 100% allergic to anything modern or stylish." A tenth concluded: "She's starting to look like Camilla. That purse is cute but it's so casual it's completely wrong for the outfit or the event. Standards have fallen since QEII died." Yikes!

Social Media Calls Out Kate Middleton Wearing Cream To A Wedding
Then came the comments about the color. "That color looks dreadful on her. Can someone please get her a halfway decent stylist? I feel like your average 5-year-old would dress her better," joked an eleventh.
"Why does she insist on wearing pale, pale pastels to other people's weddings?" asked a twelfth, as a thirteenth agreed: "Look at Camilla and Kate. Always wearing the lightest possible color to a wedding."
"Dark cream. You wore dark cream… to a wedding. She keeps pulling [expletive] like this and knows that no one will say anything to her because she's the wife of someone in the direct line of succession," thought a fourteenth, as a fifteenth said: "These people dress so horribly!"

Kate Middleton's Hair Is Slammed Too
And the outfit was only the beginning, as she also received negative comments about her hair, which some people even speculated might be a wig.
"Whoever does her hair needs to be fired. This kind of down hair is awful! A wedding in June is the most perfectly appropriate time for an updo. You don't need your security blanket, Kate. It's not working and doesn't help because it looks awful," criticized a sixteenth.
"I wonder if she does her own hair now because there's just no way a royal stylist is letting her walk out like that. It looks so bad and thin!" exclaimed a seventeenth. "Bro you can get slicker wigs on Temu lol yikes like what even is her excuse?" asked an eighteenth. "Don't insult Temu like that," replied a nineteenth, followed by the crying-laughing emoji.
